Officers start GoFundMe page for Maryland police sergeant fighting cancer

A Maryland police sergeant is fighting cancer and his fellow officers are rallying to help raise funds for his recovery.

Sergeant Tony Knox has been with the Hyattsville City Police Department since 2006 and before that he served with the U.S. Army.

About five years ago, Knox had surgery to remove a benign tumor behind his left eye. Recently the tumor returned and cancer was discovered.

Knox, who leads the department's canine section, will lose his eye during major surgery he needs to fight the cancer. His fellow officers have started a GoFundMe page to help during the time he will be out of work.
