'Please don't shoot me': Rideshare driver begs before Maryland shooting

A rideshare driver was shot multiple times last night outside an ExtraSpace storage unit in Brentwood. Now, his family is grappling with devastation as the 36-year-old recovers from his injuries.

The family described Adetula as a hardworking man and a new father to a 4-month-old child. According to a law enforcement source, Adetula was on the phone with a relative just before the shooting.

The relative reportedly heard the suspect demand that Adetula "turn down the radio" followed by the victim’s plea, "Please don’t shoot me," before gunfire erupted.

Shell casings were recovered from the scene, but investigators have not yet determined whether Adetula was targeted, if it was a robbery, or if the suspect was a rideshare passenger.

"This has shattered our family," Adetula’s mother told FOX 5.

Prince George’s County Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
