Man dies after police shooting at Rosslyn Metro Station
ARLINGTON, Va. - A man shot by Arlington County police at the Rosslyn Metro station has died, officials confirmed Wednesday.
The incident unfolded Tuesday evening after police responded to a call about a suspicious person at the Safeway grocery store in the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard.
According to Arlington County Police spokesperson Ashley Savage, the man allegedly displayed a knife during a conversation with employees before leaving the store.
Officers tracked the suspect to the upper level of the Rosslyn Metro station around 4:15 p.m. A struggle ensued, Savage said, during which one of the officers fired their weapon.
The man was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries that he later succumbed to.
Two officers involved in the altercation also sustained minor injuries. One was treated for "non-life-threatening" injuries, and the other was evaluated as a precaution.
Both have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in such incidents.
The Northern Virginia Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the case, as is customary for incidents involving serious injuries or fatalities.
