Officer-involved shooting reported near Rosslyn Metro Station: 1 injured
ARLINGTON, Va. - Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that took place at the Rosslyn Metro Station on Tuesday evening.
According to the Arlington County Police Department, officers responded to a call about a suspicious person at a Safeway grocery store in the 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard.
The man, ACPD spokesperson Ashley Savage said, allegedly flashed a knife during a conversation with another individual before leaving the store.
About 30 minutes later, around 4:15 p.m., officers located the suspect on the upper level of the Metro station, and during the encounter, Savage said a struggle ensued, prompting an officer to open fire.
The suspect was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital.
Both officers involved were also taken to hospitals. One sustained "non-life-threatening" injuries, while the other was evaluated as a precaution.
The Northern Virginia Critical Incident Response Team, which investigates serious injury incidents across the region, has been assigned to the case.
Police activity remains heavy in the area. During rush hour, multiple streets around the Metro station were blocked off for the investigation.
Several police cruisers were seen lining the streets, as officers initially urged residents and commuters to avoid the area until further notice.
No additional information about the person who was shot, or the involved officers was released.
