PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. - Prince William County Public Schools is working to develop school bus snow emergency routes for severe winter weather.
PWCS has been working closely with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to ensure the safety of roads for school buses. Officials identified as many as 50 roads with poor conditions, impacting several hundred bus routes and ultimately leading to the fourth day of snow school.
In an email to FOX 5, Prince William County Public Schools says it’s developing snow emergency routes for some bus routes that have historically been hazardous for an extended duration during inclement weather.
The D.C. region was hit with some serious winter weather, with snow totals as high as 12 inches in some areas.
VDOT is working to improve those roads to help prepare for students and teachers return to the classroom.
