Deputies: Cheesy garlic knots led to ruckus at pizza joint
PALM COAST, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Four people were arrested in Palm Coast late Friday night following a dispute over some cheesy garlic knots, according to a spokesman with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
Jessica Conti, 25, Vincent Conti, 23, Shawn Cody, 32, and Hareem Jones, 26, were taken into custody by deputies just before midnight and charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
Employees at Palm Coast Pizza told deputies that Jessica Conti became argumentative when she discovered cheese on her order of garlic knots, and she demanded a refund. Deputies said when an employee complied, Conti felt "disrespected by the way the money was put down on the counter," and she became more irate. Witness said it was at that time that Conti's accomplices entered the business, witnessed was happening, and allegedly pushed a register and a fax machine off the counter and onto the floor.
Deputies said the ruckus didn't stop there. They said all four then entered the kitchen -- an area closed to customers -- and began throwing pizza boxes and food everywhere. According to an arrest report, a glass of parmesan cheese was thrown at a television in the lobby, resulting in damage.
The four left the pizza shop but were later located and arrested without incident. "She and her friends had the opportunity to spend some time in our version of adult timeout (jail)," said Jim Troiano, with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.
