Flood Watch issued as rain arrives in DC area Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Washington D.C. along with portions of Maryland and Virginia.

The Flood Watch went into effect early Friday morning and will remain in place through late Friday evening.

Moderate to heavy rain is expected to pass through the D.C. region Friday, with 1 to 2 inches expected during a 6 to 12 hour period, which could lead to potential flooding.

The Flood Watch includes these counties and cities:

- District of Columbia
- Maryland: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, Howard, Montgomery Prince George's
- Virginia: Arlington, Alexandria, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Falls Church, Loudoun, Manassas, Manassas Park, Orange, Prince William, Rappahannock, Stafford, Spotsylvania
