On The Hill, Episode 8: A chat with David Adesnik from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies
WASHINGTON - This week David Adesnik, the director of research for the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, goes "On The Hill" to give us insight on Iran and Syria. This week marks the 40th anniversary of the Islamic revolution in Iran, and later this November will mark the 40th anniversary of the U.S. hostages being taken at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
The U.S. and Iran were once allies, but that ended in 1979 with the overthrow of the Shad of Iran. Now, four decades later, the two countries are still at odds and the stakes are even higher. President Donald Trump has taken the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal at a critical moment. David talks about how not only is Iran's nuclear ambitions are concerning, but how the Iranian leaders are looking to step into the power void left behind in the Syrian Civil War.
