Woman struck and killed by suspected drunk driver following crash in Montgomery County

Police say a woman was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver, following a crash early Sunday morning in Montgomery County.

Police say around 3 a.m. Sunday, two Honda Pilot SUVs collided and were in the southbound lanes of Columbia Pikes at Fairland Drive.

A woman and her front seat passenger, who were in a black Honda Pilot, had got out of the car and were standing near it when they were struck by BMW sedan.

Investigators say 45-year-old My Huong T. Nguyen from Greenbelt had serious injuries and died at the scene after being struck.

There were two passengers in Nguyen's car, a man and a woman, who were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The female driver of the second Honda Pilot and an adult female passenger were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the BMW, 29-year-old Ivan William Kadian, was not injured and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

A man in the front passenger seat of the BMW was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say.
