Whale jawbone washes up in Bethany Beach

A nearly 12-foot long whale jawbone was found washed up in Bethany Beach, Delaware earlier this month.

Maura Rudder of Bethany Beach reportedly spotted the bone on January 10 while she was walking along the beach.

The bone is now in the custody of the Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute. The bone is the lower jawbone of a species of baleen whale, according to MERR.
