2023 Washington Auto Show kicks off at DC Convention Center

One of the most popular car shows on the East Coast is underway in the District as the Washington D.C. Auto Show kicked off this weekend at the D.C. Convention Center. FOX 5's Ayesha Khan spoke with John O’Donnell, President and CEO of the Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association, to learn more about what this year's show has to offer.

The Washington Auto Show is returning to the District from January 19 to January 28.

The 2024 Washington Auto Show kicks off Friday at the Convention Center in Northwest D.C.

The 10-day show features a Hyundai Test Track, an EV Track Experience with Nissan and a Pepco EVsmart outdoor ride and drive. The show will also have test rides from Strictly Ebikes.

As part of the Washington Auto Show, Washington Area Hyundai dealers and Hyundai Hope on Wheels are teaming up to support Lombardi and Children’s National Hospital Georgetown through the "Hyundai Hands On Hope" Contest.

Six contestants will compete for a brand-new 2024 Hyundai IONIQ6 over a 44-hour contest period.  This year’s six contestants will be selected from a pool of employees from Georgetown Lombardi and Children’s National – three contestants will form "Team Georgetown Lombardi" and three will form "Team Children’s National." As part of this contest, the medical center where the winning contestant works will receive a $60,000 pediatric cancer research grant to move us ever closer to a cure for pediatric cancer. The runner-up medical center will receive a $40,000 pediatric cancer research grant.

"Every 36 minutes a child is diagnosed with pediatric cancer" shared Kevin Reilly, President of The Washington Area Hyundai Dealers, and Vice Chair of Hyundai Hope on Wheels. "As such, we need to do all we can to put funds in the hands of researchers finding cures, and saving children’s lives."
