Virginia man charged with sexually assaulting child at home day care
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - A Virginia man is accused of sexually assaulting a child at a home day care, officials say. Now, Fairfax County police say they are now looking for information to identify other possible victims.
Police say 54-year-old Jose Garcia Urrutia Luna, of Alexandria, was charged with indecent liberties with a child, sodomy and aggravated sexual battery. He is currently held without bond, according to police.
Officials say they were called to the daycare located in the 3000 block of Popkins Lane on Sept. 12 after a mother reported her child was sexually abused by a man who lives at the home.
The private day care is licensed to an Elizabeth Moreno. According to the Virginia Department of Social Services, they watch children of all ages from infancy to just under 13 years old.
The day care has received inspections every few months dating back to 2015. The most recent one was last February. The day care received violations 14 out of the 15 inspections. Most of the issues were for missing records or a gap in safety protocol such as working smoke detectors.
The Department of Social Services is investigating these most recent allegations.
Police say based on new information, detectives believe there may be additional victims. If you are concerned your child may have had inappropriate contact with Garcia Urrutia Luna, please contact Fairfax County police at 703-246-7800.
