Severe storms cause several road closures

BROOKEVILLE, Md. - Some severe storms blew through our area today causing several roadways to be closed and blocked off due to flash flooding.

Montgomery County road crews are assessing Market street bridge in Brookeville Maryland and they say it maybe compromised after the flash flood hit the area.

Crews tell FOX 5 that the guard rails and water passage under the bridge are blocked by heavy vegetation from the flooding.

They expect it to be fixed overnight.

One driver is apparently safe and sound after first responders had to use a small boat to carry him to safety.

His car remained in the flooded street for several hours.
