SafeTrack Surge #10 to have major impact on Metro's Red Line

Metro's SafeTrack Surge #10 is set to begin on Saturday, which means getting to and from work for metro riders is about to get much more difficult. It's estimated that the upcoming surge #10 on the VERY popular red line will impact an estimated 200,000 riders a day starting Saturday.

Trains will not be running between the NoMa-Gallaudet U and Fort Totten stations, and the work will have an especially large impact on Montgomery County and Northeast D.C. residents. The Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland stations will be closed.

ON WEEKDAYS:

Red Line: Expect crowding on all Red Line trains, especially during rush hour due to severe service reductions. Customers should also expect significantly longer wait times.

Green Line / Yellow Line: Expect additional crowding on Green and Yellow line trains between Fort Totten and Gallery Place due to a large shift of riders from the Red Line.

Weekend train frequencies may change to coordinate with other planned track work on the Metrorail system. Weekend service information is posted in the Alerts and Advisories section.
