Ryan Seacrest opens 'Seacrest Studios' at DC's Children's National
WASHINGTON - Extended hospital stays are never fun. And for kids - they can be even tougher.
To help, the Ryan Seacrest Foundation partnered with Children's National Health System to open a 'Seacrest Studios' right here in D.C.
The state of the art 'Seacrest Studios' broadcast booths not only help keep patients informed and entertained - but they give kids a chance to get hands on by creating their own music videos and hosting their own radio shows!
On Friday, FOX 5's Kevin McCarthy was on-hand for the opening of the ninth 'Seacrest Studios' at Children's National and had the chance to speak with Lucy Hale, Robin Thicke, Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky - and the man himself - Ryan Seacrest.
Seacrest gave Kevin the thrill-of-a-lifetime because - not only did he know who he was - but he actually remembered his movie review for the new film, 'Spectre!' "After I saw your review, I said - that guy - he knows what he's doing," he said.
The inspiration behind 'Seacrest Studios,' he said, was to give children who have extended hospital stays an outlet for their creative energy. Children have the opportunity to host their own shows, talk to stars - and even if they can't leave their rooms, they can watch and call into the studio.
"The idea with this whole thing was to never leave anyone out," Seacrest told McCarthy. "We can connect to other cities across the country; patients can talk to other patients in other hospitals that have the studios; doctors can talk to patients and can take calls and questions."
Seacrest said the studio at Children's National is the biggest built so far. He even said it's better than his own studio in Hollywood.
As far as the final season of 'American Idol' goes, Seacrest said we can expect to see all of the original judges back for guest appearances. Some of the big stars who have appeared and some of the contestants who have made it big will also return to celebrate what the show has meant.
