Public school employee accused of sexually abusing a child

ANNAPOLIS - An Anne Arundel County Public Schools employee is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually abusing a child.

The Annapolis Police Department arrested 38-year-old Mark Thoms on several charges, including:

- Sexual abuse of a minor
- Sexual solicitation of a minor
- Three counts of fourth-degree sexual offense as a person in a position of authority
- Three counts of fourth-degree sexual offense-sexual contact
- Three counts of second-degree sexual assault

Police began investigating after the Department of Social Services received a report of sexual child abuse in April 2018.

The alleged incidents occurred several times from November 2017 to March 2018.

Thoms is jailed without bond.
