Prince George's County SWAT situation ends after suspect not found inside business
HYATTSVILLE, Md. - A SWAT team responded to a business in Prince George's County after officials believed an armed robbery suspect was barricaded inside on Monday.
Police said they responded to a check cashing business at the Capitol Plaza shopping center along the 6400 block of Annapolis Road in unincorporated Prince George County near Hyattsville at about 9 a.m.
A store employee told authorities that a man armed with a gun assaulted him. The worker escaped from the store, flagged down a passing car and the driver called 911, according to officials.
When officers arrived at the scene, it was believed that the suspect could still be inside the business. Police surrounded the building and Annapolis Road was closed between Coopers Lane and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
Authorities announced at about 2 p.m. that the scene was cleared and there was no suspect inside.
