Prince George’s County police lieutenant accused of sexual assault

A Prince George’s County police lieutenant has been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in 2017.

The State’s Attorney’s office says Lt. Richard Tallant has been charged with second-degree sex offense.

According to investigators, Tallant was off duty when he assaulted the woman in February 2017.

Prosecutors say the case was presented to a grand jury following an investigation by the police internal affairs division and the State’s Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit.
