Motorcyclist in custody after police search along highway

CENTREVILLE, Va. - Police have taken a person into custody who abandoned their motorcycle along the side of a highway while fleeing officers.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. along Interstate 66 near Route 28 in the Centreville area of Fairfax County.

Police were pursuing the motorcyclist when the rider pulled over on the highway and the fled on foot into a wooded area.

The person was located and placed into custody around 7:15 a.m.

It is unclear why police were looking for the motorcyclist.
