Michael Vick named Norfolk State University head coach
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Former NFL quarterback, Michael Vick has been named the head coach at Norfolk State University.
Vick shared the news on social media on Tuesday night. He wrote that he was "looking forward to coming back home."
Who is Michael Vick?
The 44-year-old was a star athlete at Virginia Tech, carrying the team to the 1999 national title game. He went on to become the first Black quarterback to be chosen with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft.
Vick was a four-time Pro Bowler in 13 seasons for Atlanta, Philadelphia, the New York Jets, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He helped launch an era of quarterbacks who were threats both running and throwing the ball.
He has since been an NFL analyst for Fox Sports since his retirement in 2017.
Vick joins the list of several former NFL players who have gone on to coach at HBCU's, such as Deon Sanders and Eddie George.

NSU is a historically black college located in Norfolk, Virginia.
The team recently fired their former football head coach Dawson Odums and have been on the search for a replacement.
