Metro rides free on NYE: WMATA
WASHINGTON - The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority announced Thursday that Metro rides will be free on New Year's Eve.
From 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 2 a.m. on New Year's Day, faregates will be open and no SmarTrip card will be needed, according to WMATA. The free fares are thanks to a partnership with Miller Light and Coors Light’s Free Rides Program.
Metrorail will continue running until 2 a.m., an extra two hours of service. Metro's busses run 24-hours a day.
Extended Metro service Sunday for Commanders
The Commanders face off against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday evening at 8:20 p.m. at Northwest Stadium.
WMATA announced that "all customers who arrive at Morgan Boulevard and Downtown Largo by the last train times will be accommodated." The last trains will be held at transfer stations, so customers can make connections to other lines.
Fans are told to arrive to the station before 12:32 a.m.
Check the last train times on WMATA's website.
