Marc Elrich claims victory in Democratic primary for Montgomery County Executive in 80 vote race
ROCKVILLE, Md. - Councilmember Marc Elrich is claiming victory in the Democratic primary for Montgomery County Executive.
Elrich posted to Twitter early Monday saying that the Maryland Board of Elections had finished counting ballots and that he received 80 more votes than businessman David Blair.
According to the State Board of Elections website, Elrich received 37,510 votes to Blair's 37,424 votes. The final numbers came after provisional and absentee ballots were counted.
A recount may be requested by the candidates but the campaign of the petitioner could have to pay for that recount.
The final vote must be certified by July 16th
