Man shot during robbery on NE school playground
WASHINGTON - Police are investigating after a man was shot during a robbery on a school playground in the 100 block of T St. NE.
D.C. Police say the victim was playing basketball at Harmony Public Charter School at around 7:45 p.m. when a man robbed him and then shot him when he tried to fight back.
Police say the victim is in stable condition at the hospital.
The suspect is described as a black man, about 5'6 wearing a black shirt with a red shirt tied around his head.
The shooting happened in the Eckington neighborhood where there are four schools in a row: Harmony, McKinley Middle School, McKinley Technology High School and Langley Elementary.
There was a second shooting Sunday evening in NE about two and a half miles away. It happened in the 4500 block of Fort Totten Drive.
Police say the gunman was a tall black man with a "U" tattoo on his face in a red Toyota with Maryland tags.
Investigators didn't give details about the victim or circumstances.
