Man carrying box he said had bomb robs Hyattsville bank

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man carrying a box he claimed contained a bomb robbed a bank in Hyattsville.

The FBI says the man walked into the Capital One Bank on Annapolis Road about 5 p.m. Friday with a shoebox-sized container under his farm. Authorities say the man gave a clerk a note demanding money and that the box had a bomb.

The man left the bank after getting money, and left the box behind.

The Prince George's County bomb squad x-rayed the box and found it was empty.
