Little boy accidentally kills goldfish after cuddling it in his bed

BONAIRE, Ga. (FOX 10) - A Georgia boy learned a tough lesson when he accidentally killed his goldfish by removing him from the tank.

In a Facebook post, Tori Hamlin says her four-year-old son, Everett, has had his goldfish, Nemo, his entire life, but on one particular night, he really wanted to pet him.

When Hamlin and her husband put their son to bed, they went to their living room to watch television. The two heard noises from their son's room, and they called out to him. He explained his drawer made a noise.

Hamlin says within 10 to 15 minutes, they checked his room and noticed he had moved a chair up against the dresser and the lid was off of his fish tank.

"I'm like, Corey, the lid isoff his tank and I can't find the fish," Hamlin said.

Her husband decided to take a closer look, and they found Everett curled up with Nemo fast asleep in his bed.

His parents woke him up and explained to him that he accidentally killed his goldfish.

Hamlin says Everett was upset that he killed his friend, even though all he wanted to do was to pet it. He didn't realize Nemocouldn't live outside of water

After a week, the Hamlins purchased a new tank with more fish and explained to Everett that the fish need to stay inside the tank if he wants them to survive.

The Facebook post now has almost 20,000 shares and 25,000 reactions.
