If you're missing your weed, check with Gainesville police

Have your potted marijuana plants recently gone missing? Don't worry-- the Gainesville Police Department is holding onto them for you.

According to the Gainesville PD, an off-duty Alachua County Sheriff was walking his dogs Tuesday evening on a trail near Norton Elementary School when he noticed something odd about the surrounding foliage. He found 16 individually potted cannabis plants underneath a large bush just off the trail.

Police collected the 16 plants, and are storing them until the rightful owner is found.

But imagine going to check on your weed plants only to find that they are gone without a trace. That would certainly ruin any illegal gardener's day. So, the officers were nice enough to leave a note behind letting the owner know where they can find their plants.

The note reads, "We have your weed. Call 911 to identify or claim it. Thanks - GPD."

So if the missing plants are yours, give the Gainesville Police Department a call.
