Fairfax County substitute teacher arrested after assaulting student: police
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. - A substitute teacher in Fairfax County has been arrested for assaulting a student.
The substitute teacher has been identified as 44-year-old Rakshanda Jaiban, of Sterling, Virginia.
Police say on September 25, 2024, Child Protective Services received a referral that a substitute teacher at Dogwood Elementary School assaulted a student at the school. The student sustained minor injuries.
According to police, Jaiban assaulted a student during school hours. She turned herself in on Friday, January 31 and was served a summons releasable charge for simple assault.
Jaiban was relieved of her duties with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) upon the allegation. She has been employed by FCPS as a substitute teacher since 2019.
