Fairfax County groups, restaurant partner to offer free meals to furloughed government workers
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Workers impacted by the government shutdown can get a free meal for themselves and their families at a popular Fairfax diner beginning Thursday.
The 29 Diner is partnering with the Fairfax Education Association and several Fairfax County unions to provide free meals to furloughed federal workers and their families at the restaurant.
The owner of the diner said meals will be provided every day until the shutdown ends or until their funds runs out. The owner says $3000 in donations have been collected at this time and donations are still being accepted on the restaurant's website.
