DC snowiest major East Coast city so far this winter

So far this winter, Washington, D.C. has received the most snow of any major city on the East Coast with 16.6 inches falling. Richmond, Va. has recorded 13.1 inches as has Philadelphia. New York has measured 10 inches and Boston is experiencing its second least snowiest winter so far this season with just over nine inches. But don't forget - we still have about a month left in the season!

The highest snow totals of the day in our area came to areas off to the north and west of D.C. with places like Frostburg, Md. recording almost seven inches and Purcellville, Va. seeing almost six inches.

Reagan National airport recorded 2.6 inches on Wednesday, BWI Marshall saw 4.5 and a daily record was set at Dulles International with 4.7 inches.

The snow and rain has moved out of the D.C. region leaving behind what is shaping up to be a pleasant Thursday with clearing skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. Some refreezing could be possible but should not be widespread.

FOX 5's Mike Thomas says the next storm system heading our way comes this weekend and will be a rain maker. Be ready for a soggy Saturday afternoon with rain moving into the area and sticking around through Sunday. A very windy Sunday is expected but highs will reach the upper 60s. Sunny and mild temperatures are expected to start the week on Monday.
