Connecticut escaped inmate captured in Georgia

CANTON, Ga. - Canton Police have arrested an escaped prisoner from Connecticut.

According to police, 25-year-old Jerry Mercado had been on the run from a Connecticut prison for two weeks.

Authorities managed to track him to Georgia based on a phone call he made from a gas station on Marietta Road.

When police arrived, he had already left.

But a quick-thinking clerk called officers back when Mercado returned and they arrested him.
