Armed robbery suspect arrested after chase through LA streets, freeways
LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - An armed robbery suspect was arrested Tuesday after leading Los Angeles police on a pursuit that began in San Pedro -- and traveled on multiple Los Angeles-area freeways and city streets.
The chase was first reported around 11:30 a.m. of a dark sedan. The male suspect was reportedly wanted for two armed robberies and believed to be armed with a knife.
The suspect evaded police, traveling on the 91 and 605 freeways before exiting onto city streets in the Long Beach area. At one point, the suspect could be seen driving on the wrong side of the road into traffic.
Just after 12 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser did a successful PIT maneuver, stopping the suspect's vehicle and bringing the chase to an end near the Long Beach Airport.
The suspect was then taken into custody.
