All-clear given after Union Station evacuated due to suspicious package
WASHINGTON - Union Station was evacuated Wednesday afternoon due to a suspicious package, but an all-clear was given shortly after 6 p.m. and has reopened, authorities said.
Metro service was unaffected, but some entrances to the Union Station station were not be accessible to passengers during the evactuation, Metro Transit Police tweeted. But MARC Train and Virginia Railway Express (VRE) train service were temporarily stopped due to the police investigation, but resumed as normal.
