PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - A rising D.C. rap artist known as "3coMMa$" was shot dead near the Commanders' stadium in a brazen daytime attack Thursday, leaving family and friends reeling and police scrambling to catch the killer.
Treshaun, a father of three and promising figure in D.C.'s hip-hop scene, was killed shortly before noon on Atlee Drive, about half a mile from Northwest Stadium.
Police say he was found with multiple gunshot wounds and, despite their life-saving attempts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rapper’s sister, Dana Sparrow, told FOX 5 that the tragedy is an unimaginable blow to the family, especially coming just a year after their mother’s death from cancer.
"He was good — a father of three boys, the second oldest of our mother’s four kids. It’s heartbreaking," Sparrow said.
Friends and family members gathered in disbelief at the scene, with some speculating on a possible motive.
"They’re jealous," Dana said. "My brother was up and coming, light-skinned, getting money, doing his thing. They was hating."
Neighbors reported hearing a barrage of gunshots — one local, Sharnee Wallace, said she initially thought they were fireworks.
"It just kept going," Wallace said. "I was like, those aren’t fireworks...about 15 or 20 [shots]."
The search for suspects and a motive continues as police urge anyone with information to step forward.
Dana noted the grim reality of life in the District, saying, "We’re dealing with a lot right now, but karma’s coming for whoever did this."
Prince George’s County police are asking anyone with tips to contact Crime Solvers immediately.
