87-year-old woman struck by vehicle in Darnestown suffering life-threatening injuries, police say

DARNESTOWN, Md. - An 87-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle in Darnestown Friday night, police say.

Montgomery County police and emergency crews responded to the scene on Darnestown Road between Ancient Oak Drive and Turkey Foot Road shortly after the crash was reported around 5:19 p.m.

According to police, the driver remained at the scene after the crash.

Police have not identified the victim.

The roadway was shut down in both directions while police investigated.

They have not indicated whether the driver will face any charges.
