Dig deeper:

In Derwood and in Gaithersburg, men in their early 20s were wounded and hospitalized.

On Staffordshire Drive, nobody was hit by the gunfire but two parked cars were struck by bullets and so was a townhouse. There are bullet holes all over the outside of the home and several more in the walls inside.

There were a couple of people home at the time but they were not hurt. Neighbors tell FOX 5 they've been told by police this was gang-related violence and the shooting in their neighborhood was right where there was another shooting last summer.

Past violence:

Amber Brown says she didn't hear last night's shooting but remembers last summer’s shooting near her home all too well.

"The last time it happened I was in bed watching TV and then I heard ‘pow, pow, pow, pow’ and I knew it was gunshots. It was just so loud and the vibrations not too far for me — a couple houses down," Brown said. "I jumped off the bed and lay down on the ground so that you know I wouldn't be by the windows and after it kind of stopped and I finally got up and I looked out and the police came. But we never got any other information about it."

FOX 5 captured video of last summer's shooting, which happened in the exact same place. The surveillance video shared by Montgomery County Police at the time. Several men were seen on camera and then the sound of gunfire erupted.

FOX 5 was told the house targeted last summer was where a man lived, who's now in prison on federal gun and drug convictions.

What they're saying:

"We do have officers or detectives who are investigating it but we do know that they are related so we don't want the community to think that there's somebody you know going around the county and just randomly shooting people. But we don't know... or you can't tell us exactly what this is all about? Right now it's too early to say," Montgomery County Police Department spokesperson Shiera Goff said.

FOX 5 was told the two men wounded Monday morning — one here in Derwood the other in Gaithersburg — are expected to survive. Police say no suspects have been identified or arrested.
