2 suspects steal vehicle from Wheaton Mall parking garage in Maryland: police
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. - Police have released surveillance images of two suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.
According to police, the pair were walking through the parking garage at the Wheaton Mall when they stole a red Hyundai Elantra.
Police say they broke the driver’s door handle and then drove away in the vehicle, which was later recovered in the 1900 block of Independence Avenue in Southeast, D.C.
The theft occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in the 11600 block of Veirs Mill Road in Silver Spring. Police say the stolen vehicle is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra.
Based on surveillance footage, the suspects are described as a Black male in his late teens, approximately 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing gray sweatpants, white socks with white slip-on sandals, a black winter jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, and was carrying a black Under Armour backpack.
The second suspect is described as a Black woman in her late teens, approximately 5-feet 7-inches tall, with a medium build and long hair. She was wearing multicolored pajama bottoms, gray fuzzy boots, a black sweatshirt with "America" on the sleeves and was carrying a Kuchen & Bag.1980 cross body bag.
