2 arrested after shot fired at Pentagon City Mall parking garage; no injuries

Police say two suspects were arrested after a shot was fired at the exit of a Pentagon City Mall parking garage.

Authorities say the shooting happened around 3 p.m. at the garage located on 15th Street near S Hayes Street.

Arlington County police say witnesses have told them that a car was trying to exit the garage, but the gate would not work. They asked the car behind them to back up. However, the passenger in that vehicle got a gun from the trunk and shot at the vehicle trying to exit.

Police received multiple 911 calls and officers were able to spot the suspect vehicle fleeing the area.

The police chase went from the streets of Arlington onto northbound Interstate 395 where a suspect threw a gun out of the window. This caused a portion of I-395 to be shut down.

The suspects continued driving into Washington D.C. and the chase came to an end near F and 3rd Streets in Northwest. D.C. police arrested the two male suspects.

Arlington County police are still investigating. They say this could be a case of road rage or possibly frustrated holiday shoppers.

The car that was shot at also left the scene and police still want to speak to the person or people in that vehicle.
