15-year-old girl killed in Charles County New Year's Eve single-car crash
WALDORF, Md. - A 15-year-old girl was killed in a single-car crash on New Year's Eve in Waldorf, according to officials.
Charles County Sheriff's office says just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, 15-year-old Zeyneb Mourtaj was riding in the rear passenger seat of a car driven by her sister, 21-year-old Nadia Mourtaj. Their relative, 18-year-old Meklit Teclehaimanot was the front seat passenger.
Investigators say the car was going northbound on St. Charles Parkway just north of St. Marks Drive in Waldorf when it started skidding, left the roadway and struck a tree.
Fifteen year old Zeyneb died at the scene. Nadia Mourtaj was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and Teclehaimanot went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been released.
Charles County Sheriff's office says the investigation is ongoing.
