1 dead, several injured after overnight shootings, stabbing in the District

Police are investigating three shootings and a stabbing that have left one dead and three others injured.

The violence occurred overnight in the District beginning around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday with a shooting on the 2500 block of 14 Street in the northeast. An adult male was shot in the back and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Also in the northeast, just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a stabbing near Mount Olivet Road and Capitol Avenue. Officers are looking a black male driving a green minivan and heavy-set black female wearing blue jeans.

Shortly before 2 a.m., investigators say a man was shot in the leg on the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Avenue in the southeast.

At around 2:50 a.m., officers say a man was shot and killed on 1600 block of V Street in the southeast. The shooting happened across from a D.C. fire station.

Detectives have not released the victim's identity or what might have led to the shooting. They do say they are looking for a white Volkswagen Jetta with D.C. tags that they believe may be connected to the case.
