A chilly Monday in the D.C. region as all eyes turn toward a possible winter weather threat that could impact our area early this week.

FOX 5's Mike Thomas says a cold front moving in from the west could start the process of changing some rain into snow by the afternoon and evening hours Tuesday.

It's possible the wintry mix begins sometime after 12 p.m. Tuesday with the precipitation changing to all snow later in the evening. Thomas say the heaviest snow could fall as the evening commute begins.

The winter weather system will be a quick mover, Thomas say, moving out of the area by Tuesday night.

Wednesday will be cold and breezy but a drop in temperatures and freezing could cause slippery road conditions.

Be ready for a blast of cold that will grip the area after the snow moves on.
