Sunny start to New Year's Eve with partly cloudy skies entering 2025
WASHINGTON - The final day of 2024 starts promising with a little sunshine before some clouds and showers arrive by late afternoon. It will remain mild for one more day before a big cool down arrives by the end of the week. High temps once again near 60 degrees.
Let’s time it out together:
- Daybreak: Cool with some sunshine. Temps mostly in the 40s.
- Midday: Clouds on the increase with some sunshine. Temps top out near 60 degrees.
- Late Afternoon: Showers arrive! Best chances from 4-8 p.m. Showers should drift east of region after 8 p.m.
- Overnight (10 p.m.-1a.m.): 2025 arrives with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures near 50 degrees at midnight.
- New Year's Day: Bright sunshine but much cooler. Highs in the upper 40s to about 50 degrees.
The end of the week will feature a strong cooling trend, although it will remain dry. High temps are once again only in the low 40s on Thursday and Friday with even colder temperatures in the 30s forecast this weekend.
Next week looks interesting with the possibilities of winter weather approaching as early as Monday.
