WASHINGTON - Parts of the D.C. region are seeing a light snowfall that will make for a slow morning commute.
The frontal system that is moving near the coast could bring some light snow accumulations in Washington D.C. and areas east and south, with possibly 1 to 2 inches in southern Maryland and the lower Eastern Shore.
In the nation's capital, accumulations of up to 1 inch is expected.
A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for Washington D.C., all of southern Maryland and some areas north all the way up to Baltimore from midnight to 10 a.m. Friday.
A rain and snow mix is expected to until 7 a.m.
The storm will move out of the area quickly afterwards leaving us with a mostly sunny day with highs in the mid-40s.
D.C. snow crews were deployed in the city starting at midnight to address the weather. VDOT crews in northern Virginia treated the roads in Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties ahead of the weather.
That's not the end of our snow worries -- on Monday and Tuesday of next week, we could be talking about more of the white stuff as a clipper system comes across the coast.
