DC weekend weather: Rain Saturday, brighter skies and 60s expected Sunday
A wet and dreary Saturday is on the horizon for the D.C. metro area. Keep your umbrellas handy.
The cloudy skies are back and rain showers begin overnight with some patchy fog. The rain will persist on and off throughout the day.
Sunday starts off dry and mostly cloudy. Improving conditions are expected as a southern breeze breaks up the cloud cover, allowing for some sunshine. Temperatures could climb into the 60s, making for a comfortable day for outdoor activities.
Football fans heading to the Commanders' game against the Falcons at Northwest Stadium Sunday evening should see dry conditions during tailgating and kickoff, with rain chances holding off until later in the night.
Previous models suggested rain wouldn’t arrive until after 11 p.m., which could mean a mostly dry game. But keep an eye on the timing, as heavy rain is expected overnight into Monday morning.
By Monday, skies are forecast to clear as the system moves out, leaving behind drier and cooler weather to start the workweek.
For those with outdoor plans, Sunday is shaping up to be the better day of the weekend.
