Live look at road conditions in Rockville

FOX 5's Ayesha Khan is on top of road conditions this morning as snow, sleet and rain head towards our area.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain started to move in to the D.C. area Saturday morning as a winter storm heads towards the East Coast. 

North of D.C. in areas like Hagerstown, Martinsburg, Winchester and Cumberland have all seen steady snow since precipitation began Saturday morning. 

Frederick County, MD saw some sleet and snow flurries Saturday morning, with some snow accumulation in downtown Frederick throughout the morning into the afternoon.

Plows out in Frederick County as icy precipitation starts

FOX 5's Ayesha Khan says it's already starting to snow and sleet in Frederick County, MD.

FOX 5 Chief Meteorologist Tucker Barnes reported seeing snow flurries in Washington, D.C. right around 10:30 a.m. 

Areas to the north and west of D.C. should see snow up until noon, according to FOX 5 Meteorologist Gwen Tolbart. Higher elevations to the far north of D.C. will continue to see snow throughout the day.

Snow starts in parts of Maryland, Virginia as winter storm hits area

Some snow is already starting to move in for areas outside of Washington, D.C.

Temperatures started this morning in the 20s and 30s, with temperatures around the I-95 corridor increasing around mid-day. While temperatures slowly rise throughout the day, some areas northwest of I-95 will stay below freezing. 

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Warren County, Carroll County, Frederick County, Washington County and Berkeley County. Some areas were downgraded to a Winter Storm Advisory after snow and sleet changed over to rain in some counties. 

A Snow Emergency Plan is in effect for Garrett County and Allegany County in Maryland. 

Fairfax County Public Schools, Frederick Community College and Loudoun County Public Schools are all closed Saturday.
