Metro is returning to Automatic Train System

For the last 14 years, WMATA train operators have manually stopped and started trains after a crash at Fort Totten killed several people. Since then, Metro has conducted safety and engineering assessments to improve the system and will reintroduce its automatic train system and its board will discuss this week about re-introducing automatic operations later this year.
