Woman dies in custody, deadly protests ensue
At least nine people have been killed as protests intensify in Iran over the death of a woman in police custody. The public outcry started after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini was killed after being held by police for allegedly violating the country's strictly enforced dress code by not wearing a hijab correctly. Mahsa's death has sparked demonstrations and clashes with Iranian security forces in about a dozen cities, including in the U.S. Iranian Americans are taking to the streets in New York City, Chicago, Dallas, and Los Angeles. Her death has been condemned by the united states, the European Union, and the United Nations.
