WASHINGTON - With the Washington Capitals on the verge of making history, fans of the team don't just reside in the DMV. The Caps craze also extends all over the country.
At 5 years old, Libby Lu became an internet superstar when her hometown team, the St. Louis Blues, traded T.J. Oshie to the Capitals, which broke her heart.
"My mom was originally only going to send a video to my dad," said Libby.
Instead, her mother decided to post the video of her meltdown online, which went viral.
Even though she was a Blues fan, Libby quickly also became a Caps fan when Oshie sent her enough swag to Rock the Red for life.
"If he wins the Cup, I'm going to go crazy," she said. "I have been to every single game he has played in St. Louis."
Libby even got to meet her favorite player in 2016. Now as the Capitals gets closer to winning the Stanley Cup, the now-8-year-old has some advice for the winger.
"I think he should take a selfie with the Cup and send it to the guy who traded him," Libby said.
