COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A University of Maryland athletics spokesman confirmed to FOX 5 Monday night that team officials called a team physician before calling 911 after McNair fell ill. That could be significant in the review of McNair's death because attorneys for his family allege the university waited too long to get McNair help.
Public records obtained by FOX 5 from the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department show a 911 call came in to report McNair having complications just before 6 p.m., an hour after the family's attorneys say McNair first had a seizure. A dispatch report says McNair had a seizure at 6:07 p.m., but it is unclear if that refers to a second seizure or conflicts with the attorneys' timeline.
In the 911 call and radio transmissions obtained by FOX 5, someone reports, "We have an individual at 4068 Fieldhouse Drive that's hyperventilating after exercising and unable to control their breath." The dispatch transmissions later reference a seizure.
"Male patient with seizure," an unidentified voice says on the recording.
The university is expected to release more information about McNair's death on Tuesday, according to a spokesman.
