ARLINGTON, Va. - Some hockey fans got a real treat as they got a chance to skate with some of their favorite Washington Capitals players.
Monumental Sports Network hosted its monthly "On the Ice with the Caps" event for its subscribers at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington Thursday night.
Caps fans laced up their skates and mingled with Andre Burakovsky and Christian Djoos on the ice while also getting a special photo booth photo along with endless of selfies with the players.
"We just thank all the fans for coming out here," Burakovsky said. "I think it's a really good event for Monumental Sports Network to raise and bring all these fans out here so we can spend some time with them and hopefully they can teach me to skate."
After a slow start to the season, the Capitals are in first place in the Metropolitan Division more than halfway through the season.
"We lost some key players from last year and I think all the young guys have been stepping up and really filling those spots," said Burakovsky. "Coming into the season with a new team is obviously a little bit different, but as soon as you get to know each other better and know who everyone is on the ice, then you feel more comfortable with each other and find each other better on the ice and off the ice."
