Tweets have been coming in all morning congratulating the team on a well deserved win.

One of those fans celebrating this morning is the President of the United States. For her part, Mayor Bowser tweeted several Thursday night. "We are all #DCPROUD of the effort, tenacity, and determination our beloved Capitals displayed all season long, capturing their first-ever Stanley Cup."

Meanwhile, the deputy mayor, Kevin Donahue, tried to help all those tired caps fans out Friday morning by playfully tweeting a 'sick note' workers can take to the boss today excusing them for being late.

Bryce Harper, who shamelessly flaunted his support for the Golden Knights, tweeted his congratulations. "I think it would only be fitting for us the @Nationals to rock the red tmrw night in support of the @Capitals winning the Cup! What do you say?"

And in further good sportsmanship, the Pittsburgh Penguins tweeted - even if it was a backhanded compliment! "After 726 days of being Stanley Cup Champions, it's time to pass the torch. Congratulations to the Washington Capitals on a well-deserved championship victory," they tweeted.
